The Harvest Prayer Network is an intercessory prayer movement birthed in the Episcopal Church to mobilize the power of prayer for evangelism and ministry in our parishes.

The vision of the Harvest Prayer Network is based on Jesus’ call to pray for evangelism.

“Therefore said he unto them, the harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefor the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”
Luke 10:2 KJV

Prayer is the foundation of evangelism.  Before Jesus chose His disciples he prayed.

Before Jesus preached the sermon on the mount, he prayed. Before Jesus fed the 5,000 He prayed. Before Jesus went to the cross, we see our Lord pouring His heart out to God the Father in prayer. As we pray we are following the example of Jesus Himself.

All mission begins with prayer.

The early Church prayed in agreement for 10 days and 3000 were saved on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:41) Paul and Barnabas were sent out to evangelize from a prayer meeting in Antioch (Acts 13:2-3). One of the longest running continuous prayer meetings in history, begun by Count Zinzendorf, sent out missionaries all over the world.

“God does nothing but in answer to prayer.”
– John Wesley

“Prayer changes everything.”
– Archbishop Justin Welby

Episcopal Bishop and preacher Phillip Brooks once said, “Do not pray for tasks to equal your powers. Pray for power to equal your tasks.”  All revivals, moves of God in human history have come through His people praying.

Prayer draws us close to the Lord and aligns our thoughts with His will. Prayer provides to fuel for evangelism and Jesus shows us the way.

We follow Jesus’ teaching and tap into the power of prayer for evangelism. Not only does Jesus teach us to pray for evangelism, He shows us how. First, Jesus Himself points to the need for workers, and then instructs the disciples for what they should pray. In the same way, intercessors first seek to hear His voice (John 10:27) and then pray according to His will to receive answers (1 John 5:14-15). God is still looking for intercessors who will hear his voice and stand in the gap to pray for salvation of people who are lost and do not know God. (Ezekiel 22:30).

Come Holy Spirit, You Are Welcome
Come Holy Spirit, You Are Welcome

Come Holy Spirit, You Are Welcome!” was written to be a practical book about intercessory prayer. The book is an invitation to each believer to come deeper into a relationship with the living God. It motivates God’s people to know and communicate more intimately with the Father, through the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It also traces the history of the Harvest Prayer Network, including this website, from its beginnings in a small parish prayer group to a movement of the Holy Spirit throughout and beyond a diocese of the Episcopal Church.

This is the Harvest Prayer Network.

Our goal is to facilitate the establishment of Harvest Prayer Network groups in every Episcopal parish in America. We believe that many intercessors are already in place in their parishes.

Our vision is to connect with intercessors, sharing the vision of coming together with others to pray, provide training where needed by participating in prayer meetings and prayer workshops, and then to send these intercessors out to pray for the Harvest, for their own parish and Diocese.

We believe that God is going to use the Episcopal Church as part of a great revival in America and with our brothers and sister throughout the world. We invite prayer leaders, intercessors, and anyone interested in powering up their prayer life to join with us in the Harvest Prayer Network.
